About the Artists
''The more we know, the more we love''.
~ Leonardo Da Vinci
Maïssane is a Vancouver based artist specializing in travel photography. For more than 10 years, Maïssane has been photographing the beauty and diversity of the world on five continents. Photography has grown to become a passion, a desire and a responsibility to show the beauty of this world and its people.
Through the galleries on this website, Maïssane wishes to take you on a journey to discover the treasures of diversity, the people and places that she found on her way that are close to her heart. From the constant celebration atmosphere in the streets of Cuba, the magnificent sand dunes of Namibia, the superlative wild life and uplifting gospel of the townships of South Africa. The magic of the bazaars in Morocco, the incomparable splendour of the Blue Mosque, and mysterious fairy chimneys in Turkey, the breathtaking beauty of the Greek Islands, the golden beaches, lush green landscapes and pristine lakes of New Zealand where earth and sky merge into one. The magnificent moorish palace of the Alhambra and flamenco dancing in the crowded caves of Andalusia, the intricate designs and bright colours of the azul lejos on the old buildings of Porto. The spiritual experience of visiting the old temples of Siem Riep, Cambodia, reclaimed by nature in the most extraordinary way. The terrace rice plantations in Sapa, waterpuppets and colourful lanterns in Vietnam. The all-year-round Christmas atmosphere, little huts on remote white sandy beaches and treks to hill-tribe villages in Thailand. The amazing underworld of the Great Barrier Reef, the hidden cascades of the Kakadoo National park, the insolite landscape in Coober Pedy, Australia. The amazing life in the backwaters of India, the colourful saris, the incomparable beauty and artistry of its temples dedicated to its million gods, the perfection of the Taj Mahal whose color changes throughout the day, the majesty of the Himalayas where you can hear your thoughts resonate against the mountains, all the way to the maze of the most sacred of all places in India, Varanassi where life ends and begins. Everywhere beauty awaits, hidding in the most unlikely places.
''Pour le plaisir des yeux!''
Bon voyage!

''Sans prétention j’essaie de saisir en tout temps ce qui échappe au regard de chacun et permet d’apprécier cette beauté qui habite notre monde si proche et parfois si négligée''.
''I try to capture what escapes the eyes, the beauty present in all that surrounds us, and the details that we often fail to notice.''
René is based in Québec. He was introduced to photography in high school by a teacher who encouraged his students to see what others did not. He learned the art of composing images, developing photographs, and working in the darkroom. René extended his experience in photography by working at a police laboratory, learning forensic and civil photography where he had the extraordinary opportunity to print large format photographs up to 4x5 feet in size. René's interest for photography continued to grow over the course of the years. Using the little free time he had, he captured the natural beauty of Quebec's landscapes and meaningful moments in his family's life. In December 2008, René travelled to India with his family. He has generously contributed some of his work to the present gallery.
